Rugby Union’s Barry Everitt, one of Europe’s most prolific goal-kickers, leads the Sports Dept.
We are delighted that Cranmore has been able to attract such a high-profile professional sportsman. We firmly believe that Barry’s knowledge and experience, coupled with our outstanding sporting facilities, will enable us to build on our previous successes.
Fly Half Everitt, 34, holds a Sports Science degree from Brunel University and took up his new role on 1st July.
He said, "I plan to promote sport for pupils of all abilities. I will encourage such key values as leadership, determination, humility and sportsmanship. As sports staff we will have the highest expectation of all boys to ensure they fulfil their potential. I intend to use the knowledge gained throughout my professional career to enhance the boys’ experiences when participating in the wide range of sports that Cranmore offers."
Record-breaker Everitt, an Ireland A player who also represented the Barbarians, notched up a record 1,725 points for London Irish before moving to Northampton Saints in 2007 on a 3-year contract where he played a major role in the revival of the Saints: a resurgence that included winning the National League and with it immediate promotion back to the coveted Premiership. Further successes for the Everitt-inspired Saints included winning the LV= Cup and the European Challenge Cup.
