Senior Department
Boys join the Senior Department at the age of 8 years (Year 4). All teaching is by subject specialists and therefore the boys move around between the various subject bases. In addition, the boys will spend some time each day with their Form Teacher.
Most year groups have three parallel, mixed-ability classes which are changed each year as boys progress through the school. This ensures that friendships can be developed and sustained across the whole year group.
At the beginning of the 5th Form (Year 7), boys are divided into two Common Entrance classes and one Scholarship class. This structure enables our pupils to follow the programme of study which meets their individual needs in preparation for senior school entry exams.
Staff recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents to provide their sons with the best educational experience. There are numerous opportunities, both formal and informal, for parents to discuss their son's progress with staff.
