Junior Department | French
Nous adorons le français!
French begins in Transition One (Year 3) at Cranmore. In the first two years, we aim to inspire the boys and arouse their interest in and excitement about learning a new language. We help them to develop strong language learning skills that will aid them in their studies in the Senior Department and beyond.
In these first two years, the boys acquire a vocabulary of approximately 200 words, together with language structures for using the words. We use a range of multi-sensory media - including flashcards, songs, rhymes, games and role-play - to facilitate learning. In addition, in order to place the learning of the language in context, the boys study aspects of French culture, history and geography. The course focuses on developing listening and speaking skills in particular, with the emphasis on fun!
