Cranmore Pupils

Sport | Football

Association Football is played throughout the School during the year group's Games lessons. It is used as a medium for teaching children motor skills following the principles of Long Term Athlete Development programmes.

In the Class Ones, (NC Yr 3) and above, individual and team skills appropriate to the year group are taught by qualified, specialist staff and, from time to time, visiting coaches.

Cranmore was awarded the F.A. Charter Standard in 2001. This recognises the number of qualified coaches on the staff, the number of teams and our links with local clubs. It also recognises the amount of “out of hours” time given to all the age groups from Under 7 s upwards.

During the School holidays courses are organised by Surrey Football Coaching Centres for the boys and the Surrey F.A. hold Coach Development Workshops and full F.A. coaches courses for teachers, club volunteer coaches and managers.

School age group teams play fixtures at A,B,C,D,E and F level, giving every boy the opportunity to play in representative matches. A and B teams also enter a number of tournaments including the Surrey Prep Schools K.O. Cup. The teams enjoy considerable success in these fixtures and tournaments.
