Facilities
The School and all its facilities are contained within a single attractive 24 acre site.
NURSERY Our self-contained Nursery is divided into three sections each with its own wet area and includes, separate from the main school, its own play garden with a fenced-off, safety-mat area for adventure play equipment.
JUNIOR AND SENIOR DEPARTMENTS Each department has up-to-date teaching facilities with a total of 35 modern classrooms designed to cater for up to 21 boys of various age groups. All classrooms benefit from Interactive Whiteboards and TV, audio and video playback.
All pupils in the Junior and Senior departments have access to the following specialist teaching facilities:
- Three large science laboratories and three air-conditioned ICT laboratories
- An Art room and Design Technology workshop
- A Chapel and a Chaplaincy
- Comprehensive music and sporting facilities (see below for details)
SIXTH FORMERS enjoy the privilege of exclusive use of their own common room with pool table, air hockey, bar football, computer games and a leisure reading area.
THE MUSIC SCHOOL Comprises a large auditorium with a Manders organ, specialist teaching rooms and practice rooms where a wide range of musical instruments and electronic teaching aids are available for use by both juniors and seniors.
SPORTS FACILITIES With the exception of rowing, which is conducted at nearby Walton-on-Thames, and skiing where we practise on the dry slope in Esher, all the School's sporting facilities are on site.
Within the main school building we have a sprung-floored gymnasium, including an adventure boulder wall, and a half Olympic size indoor heated swimming pool. In addition in a large separate building we have a sports hall marked out for badminton, basketball, cricket nets and volleyball. On its upper level there are sports staff offices, changing rooms and showers, three high quality glass backed squash courts and, for the older boys, a Fitness room with a suite of low impact rowing and jogging machines.
The Henderson Playing Fields, Paddock and Main Square provide a mixture of football and rugby pitches in winter and running tracks, cricket pitches, outdoor cricket nets and a nine hole pitch-and-chip golf course in the summer. There is a pavilion between the cricket pitches with changing facilities for visiting teams. We also fortunate to have two fenced all weather pitches. One is principally used as four tennis courts but is also equipped with goals inset in the netting for use for football and hockey. The other is set up for football and hockey mainly for the use of boys in the fifth and sixth forms.
A 1,500 sq metre playground with a rubberised safety surface is available for the use of all the boys during their break times. Adjoining the playground are a fenced and rubberised adventure play area for younger children and a 750 square metre quiet area with benches for reading and playing board games.
A wooded area owned by the school adjacent to the main pitches on the Henderson Playing Fields is used for collecting data for geography and science projects. The pond is used for supervised science lessons. A pergola garden is an ongoing project for boys in their middle years at the School.
TRANSPORT A fleet of five minibuses are used during the week for bringing some boys to school from outlying areas and transporting all boys to matches against local schools and at weekends to rowing, skiing, golf competitions etc.
COMMUNUICATIONS All classrooms and offices within the school are computer networked and all teachers are contactable by telephone and voice-mail.
SECURITY External doors are protected by coded keypads and the whole site is monitored by CCTV.
