Extra Curricular | Chess
At Cranmore we have two Chess Clubs, one for Senior boys (Transition 2 to 6 th Form) and one for Juniors (Transition 1). At present the Senior Club meets after school on Fridays from 4.15 to 5.15 pm, and the Juniors meet on Wednesdays from 3.30 to 4.00 pm.
All boys are welcome irrespective of ability. Some will be able to learn the basics of the game; other more experienced players have the chance of developing their skills in chess tactics and strategies. We are also pleased to see any boy who would like to play the occasional game with friends.
This year many of the Senior boys have enjoyed coaching given by an experienced chess coach who visits us each week. A modest charge is made for these sessions.
Cranmore participates in two local chess leagues in which matches are played against other schools. Regular member of the Senior Chess Club have the opportunity to represent the school in these matches.
