A typical day for Bright Stars at Cranmore

Bright Stars at Cranmore is open daily from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday throughout the year, with the exception of Bank Holidays and a short closure period around Christmas and New Year.

Bright Stars at Cranmore is divided into two distinct age-groups, Pre-Nursery, for children aged 2 ½ years – 3 ½ years, and Nursery, for children aged 3 years and above by Aug 31st.

Our Pre-Nursery activities are organised by Miss Aimee Dillon, our Assistant Manager, and Nursery routines are organised by our Nursery Manager, Mrs Suzanne Sandell. They lead a team of qualified, enthusiastic and caring staff who support the children in their play and learning.

Children arrive between 8am and 9am and breakfast is available if required. They settle happily and engage in a range of different activities, such as playdough, painting, exploratory play, construction and puzzles.

Our younger children in Pre-Nursery enjoy a range of exciting and stimulating activities both indoors and out in the garden, before finishing the morning with a story, singing and the opportunity to share their ideas with each other.

The older children start their day with adult-led activities such as a visit to the Gym, Music Room or Computer Room, then choose what they would like to do. Activities on offer are carefully planned to encourage children’s language, fine and gross-motor-skills, mathematical development, creative development and knowledge and understanding.

All children stop for a morning snack with their friends and spend some time out in the garden. Each morning finishes with some time in small groups, sharing a story, discussing current themes or with a mathematical activity.

All children stay for a cooked lunch, and some leave afterwards at 1pm.

Our afternoon session starts with a quieter time for books and stories or a nap for those who need it. Afterwards there are adult-led activities such as painting, gardening, drama and role-play, a session in the Sports Hall or a walk in the extensive grounds.

Our afternoon session finishes at 3.15pm.

Our full-day session finishes at 6pm, with tea served around 4.15pm.

Parents may choose to send their children during Cranmore School term-times only or all year-round. Our Holiday Fun sessions are also open for term-time children whose parents wish them to attend occasionally, and hours and days are booked in advance so that there is the appropriate adult:child ratio to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for all.
