Frequently Asked Questions

My child has never been to a Nursery / Day Care setting, how will you ensure she/he settles in?

Leaving a child can be an anxious experience for both the parents and child. We will help support you to ensure a positive experience for you both and always discuss arrangements with you before your child joins Bright Stars at Cranmore..

How do I know what my child is doing?

As well as verbal communication, letters and weekly information are sent home in the school book bag.

My child still has a sleep in the afternoon, is this possible?

Yes, each child has his / her own sheet and a comfy mattress to lie on during 'quiet time' (1-15 p.m. until 1-45p.m.).

Do I need to provide my child with a morning snack?

The children need a small snack - fruit or a small sandwich and a soft drink. Water is provided throughout the day. Please note that Cranmore is a nut-free zone.

My child is still in nappies, will this be a problem?

No, we work with you regarding toilet training and we liaise with you continuously to ensure consistent care.

Can my child bring in items from home?

We are very happy for children to bring in small toys, books and items of interest from home. Please make sure that items are clearly named. Nursery children are invited to bring in items to show on a specific day.

Where do I park?

Please park in the main school car park and walk your child up the pathway (behind the Sports Hall) to the gateway to Bright Stars at Cranmore.

What do I need to do if my child is absent from school?

If your child is sick we would appreciate a phone call to the school office. If your child is suffering from sickness, diarrhoea, a heavy cold or any contagious illness we ask you to keep them off school until they are 48 hours free of symptoms (current Health Protection Agency advice).

In all cases where a child will be absent due to holiday arrangements, an official Cranmore form (available from the school office) should be completed and handed in for the Headmaster to sanction.
