Science
The philosophy of the Science Department is to generate excitement and enthusiasm in its pupils by satisfying their natural sense of curiosity whilst encouraging them to communicate and practise their thinking skills. Co-operation and creative ability is supported through varied practical, investigative work.
Subject specialists teach biology, chemistry and physics separately from the 4th Form (Year 6) upwards. ICT is embedded within the syllabus and data logging is used regularly throughout the course.
The department prides itself in promoting 'science in action' through developing links with local agencies and companies. In particular, we benefit from regular lectures given by external speakers. The department is actively developing a list of designated 'Science Ambassadors' who come in and relate science to the world of work. These include doctors, dentists and engineers.
