Boys enter the Senior Department in the 2nd Form (Year 4). Our aim is to provide all pupils with a broad and balanced education. Boys in the Senior Department are predominantly taught by subject specialists.

Subjects taught are Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, French, Religious Education. All boys also have lessons in PSHE, MusicArt, ICT, Design TechnologyPE and Games, while some year groups have Drama lessons. Boys in Forms 3 and 4 are taught Latin but this is not compulsory at the top of the school. All 6th Form boys pursue a course in Philosophy.

Boys who have specific learning difficulties or who have particular problems with English and Maths may be given specialist support.

The academic objective of this department is to prepare boys for the Common Entrance or Scholarship examinations at 13+ for entry to their choice of Senior School, and to give them a strong foundation to approach these examinations with the confidence to succeed.
